Helen will make it in but Hopkins is really hamming it up! I think he will be snubbed.

I liked that new trailer a lot more. But oh my God Anthony Hopkins is going crazy! That part where he's flailing his arms all over? LOL

I don't know what to make of Anthony Hopkins. In a less competitive year, I think he could make it in...then again, he is Anthony Hopkins playing Alfred Hitchcock so AMPAS might just nominate for him for that reason (kind of like Freeman/Invictus). Hard to tell.

Hopkins looks awfully hammy, and Mirren is on autopilot. I wouldn't be surprised if none of these two gets nominated.

Mirren is not on autopilot ... she's actually the heart and soul of the film. I'd wager an Actress nomination is almost guaranteed. She has one especially moving speech, which got a spontaneous round of applause from the Grauman's premiere audience.

Hopkins does his best, but Hitchcock is such a recognizable figure that Hopkin's face is just not right. And the make-up really doesn't help matters. Still his performance is quite decent (and the scene where he air conducts the audience's reactions during the first screening of the shower scene from outside in the lobby, is well ... brilliant).

I quite liked the film, Gervasi has a light, original directing touch, and the entire cast has fun with it. Danny Elfman's score is wonderful ... it incorporates Herrmann's work perfectly ( unlike last year's Oscar winner, which I can still barely utter). Hitchcock won't make my top ten or anything, but I'd definitely recommend it.

Oh is that what he's doing? LOL. Hopefully it appears a little less frenzied in context.

thanks for this. do you think elfman's score has a chance to me nominated? or does it use too much of herrmann's work?

Right now this has 78% on RT so if it stays anywhere near that range I think she'll have a nice filler spot. If it goes down (as in lower than 60%) I think Dench will take that spot.

I do wish they'd used a Fox Seachlights logo like that one in the actual film.

63 on MC after 16 reviews. Its only 100 is from Rex Reed, lmao (that's probably everything you need to know about this film).

That is still a better score than last years The Help (and The Iron Lady and Albert Nobbs) but I dont think it'll inspire the same passion.

No, Zac, I'm going with my Nanny.

It does seem extremely My Week With Marilyn-esque. Feel-good! Fun time at the movies! As bland as a slice of unbuttered bread!

Welp, this has descended to a 60% on RT atm. It has 55 reviews logged, so it probably won't change much in either direction. Will probably finish somewhere between 55-65%

Yeah, I don't think Mirren is out but she's not in my predix. I'm gonna wait until all reviews are in for all contenders to change mine though. This year is weird.
