is there anyone else watching this here except me
i am a big fan and i think the first episode was really good. It really came close to the end of the story in the first episode which i think will be mirrored in the season finale (or the big finale)

I suspect that I wound up liking that episode more than I wanted to because they used Band of Horses for the closing montage. Damn their good taste in music!
Yeah the ending montage and Barney's one minute summation of his relationship with Ribin were the two best parts of the episode. Marshall and lily were completely wasted on lame parenting jokes, well joke.
Marshall and Lily were underused again.
And since the wedding was still in the "not so far" future, Ted probably won't meet The Mother until... say, 2020. My new theory is that the kids were adopted and the mother was a mythical creature invented by Ted. Otherwise they will have to meet, mate, and produce 2 kids in 1 episode or so, which is far less likely.
has aynone watched last night's episode?
I cried like babies![]()
Best XMAS episode ever!!!![]()
I teared up at the whole Barney/Robin stuff, especially the parts after Robin arrived at the place. I like to think of them as today's Joey/Rachel, except actually getting to be together rather than the writers sticking the girl with the boring, annoying a-hole who's the worst part of the show. The laugh track was also kept to a relative minimum, so that was good.
There was a whole lot of filler though.

Meryl on Oscars: Y’see these little babies? These are my best f***ing friends
and they never let me down. Try to get ‘em away from me and I’ll eat you alive.
Loved Barney/Robin, as usual. They are so good together.
I also loved the scene in the car. Cobie Smoulders was great (and incredibly hot).
That being said, this show needs to end this season.
Easily the best episode of the season. I teared up at the end.
Yeah, it was a great return to form. Barney's plan was great!
So I haven't checked this show out in a long time because it's really horrible but I loved the Barney/Robin stuff at the end. She said yes!
I also agree with jjj that this is like the Joey/Rachel that never happened (I was also rooting for that one to be more substantial than it was, even though every knew she was going to end up with Ross).
COMING THIS AWARDS SEASON
GATSBY VS. GATSBY
Even though I've been a Ted/Robin fan from day one, I thought the episode was awesome. The 16 plan step was great.
"It's better to over analyse than not analyse at all." NM. 2000.
I always wanted Ted & Robin and HATED HATED Robin & Barney at first...but through their breakup I really grew to love the possibility of them. About 5 minutes into the 2nd part of last night's episode I realized this was Barney's plan all along (telling Ted & the proposal was really for Robin). I was torn at that moment. A part of me was like "Aw man...how predictable." And then the other part of me was like "there isn't anything more silly and romantic and amazing than that."
HIMYM pretty much always nails the more tender moments for all of these characters.
Will Oscar have Riva Fever?
I don't get the fans of Ted & Robyn. We know since the very first episode that she's not the mother so why caring about them?
Did anyone else watch last night's episode? The first two thirds are pretty good (if nothing spectacular) but the pay-offs in the last act are some of the best stuff the show has ever done. The confetti gag is flat-out hilarious and Lily coaxing a confession out of Ted (that he wants Robin to marry him, not Barney, despite having given his blessing) by admitting that sometimes she wants to pack up and leave is the best emotional scene of the show since the Robin can't have kids moment.
This is the first back-to-back great episodes this show has had in...I don't know, since Season 5? Hopefully the show can keep it up.
^ I think that was definitely Hanigan's finest moment in the show.
COMING THIS AWARDS SEASON
GATSBY VS. GATSBY
Season 9 is the last season of this show.
Is that news or did I completely miss this announcement before today?
Will Oscar have Riva Fever?
The last 4-5 episodes of this have been legitimately great. I would so, so love it if they could keep this going for the rest of this season and have a sort of mini-renaissance in the same vein as 30 Rock.
