    Ugh poor Courteney.

She really deserves getting in for Cougar Town.

Cox is less sad than Peri Gilpin. On the 5x Comedy winner, Frasier + Niles won a bunch, Martin + Daphne got both Globe and Emmy noms, and she had nothing.

At least Cox is a Globe nominee now, and the Globes (and Sags) never went for Ross or Chandler.

I think she covered Michelle Williams's shift on Superbowl Sunday.

I am not sure that's a thing, James.

So, Globes: Homeland, Actors: Downton Abbey
    Editors: Breaking Bad
    Directors: Breaking Bad
    Writers: Breaking Bad
And the actors actually gave Cranston a win for the first time.

Is it headed to a Best Drama win? A lot of people thought it wouldn't happen since it's the "first half" of a season. But the consensus online seems to be much more excited about it than this season's episodes from Homeland/Downton/Boardwalk. And GoT is also a "first half" and in a generally Emmy-unfriendly genre.

Individual episode. BB won Drama Series Writing.

But that doesn't have to mean anything for the Emmys. They don't really have precursors the way the Oscars do.

The biggest advantage Breaking Bad has is their final episodes airing during the voting period, I think.

    Oh, I see.

Yeah, I certainly think Breaking Bad can challenge for a win, but I still struggle seeing it being able to win over enough of the voting block.

Now that I've finished Downton (I bought the Blu-ray) I would just like to add to the chorus of those hoping Elizabeth McGovern gets nominated. She was devastating. And I think Maggie Smith was also better than ever. Yes, at being Maggie Smith, but what a pleasure that is to watch!

I would love it if the actors playing Tom Branson and Thomas too got nominated this year. And I would be thrilled for Mrs. Hughes to get nominated as well.

I think this season, as addicting as ever, was not as overall as interesting as the last 2 though. I'm one of the few who actually love the World War I half of last season a ton. There didn't seem to be an overarching plot this season that was as dramatic as anything the last 2. Could have used more tension and conflict. Still, it's soapy deliciousness, that's for sure.

It's the Emmys. I don't think this works like the Oscars with guilds and industry honors necessarily translating over to those blue ribbon panels.
