I disagree on supporting, it would be a very easy nomination for her, and she would easily replace Joanne Froggatt, they love DA that much and after Dame Maggie she's the face of the show.

I agree. If the Emmys are still in love with Downton, she would be a sure bet in supporting.

Either way Froggatt is out I'm pretty sure.

Yes, Froggatt and Coyle are out, but I wouldn't be too surprised to see some comination of Bonneville, McGovern, Smith, Dockery, Carter and Logan happening.
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.

Very interested to see how having Arrested Development around will affect things.

Logan and Leech would be the ones I'd throw in this season. They've got some strong eps later on in the season. So does James-Collier. All three could get thrown into the mix. That being said my personal MVP of the females this season was Carmichael.

I find Carmichael quite bad, she benefit from the fact that Lady Edith is very sympathetic because she never gets to be happy but Laura Carmichael is the weakest link imo.

Why was the 1st season of Downton nominated in the Miniseries category and the 2nd in the Drama Series? Just cause it had an extra episode?

They just keep submitting it where they think they will get the most nominations I think. It's totally strategic and about the campaign mostly. Also, they saw how popular it became so I think they figured they could take on the big boys in Dramatic Series. Upstairs, Downstairs, as had been noted before, often did the same jumping back and forth in categories itself to much success in the '70s. The Emmys basically allow anything LOL. They don't seem to care that they get subverted or if someone submits a 40 seconds performance in supporting actress either :ellen burstyn:

Duh. Carmichael, for me, is by far the best of the young ladies. Dockery is fine, but this season the writers basically converted her in a young version of Maggie Smith, all day bitching but without being funny like Smith.

I haven't seen this season yet but I love Lady Edith. I don't really think there is a bad actor there in the thing? I know I DID detest the actress who played Bates' wife LMAO. Man, she was vile!

The first season was submitted in Miniseries before they decided to make another season. After that, it was obvious where I'd go. I'm not actually sure the Emmys would accept it in Miniseries again. And yes, Dockery had far too little to do this season, but I still want her to get in.

Even with House of Cards eligible, will the Emmys ignore it because Netflix isn't an established network or cable channel? That was probably why they snubbed Kelsey Grammer for Boss last year, it being on Starz and all.

You mean it wasn't because he was a big, mean, nasty Republican?

It's the same with Arrested Development. I'm very intrigued.

I mean, the thing is, even if House of Cards aired on cable, it would still be in a dogfight to get nominated because of how stacked the drama categories are. And with it being unveiled already, it's going to be a struggle for audiences and voters to remember it. On the same token, though, the series will be readily available for anybody to check out.

I suppose Kevin Spacey can get in on name alone, but I can't see it breaking into Series. That looks set to be the same six again.

Spacey probably battles with Jeff Daniels for a newbie spot.

Lewis/Hamm/Cranston/Buscemi/Hall are probably all great bets to return. You have to figure in Bonneville, too, though I think Daniels or Spacey beats him out.

Yeah, Drama Series looks locked up to be the same six, Game of Thrones unseen. Spacey and Fincher should be pretty easy to get in though (assuming that they don't ignore the show because it's on Netflix), and Wright is in strong contention for a spot (though so far I've been more impressed with Mara from what I've seen).

I could see Hall getting dropped even though he stuck around through last year- he was dropped from SAG which can sometimes be a harbinger of the Emmys dropping you (it was for Hugh Laurie last year, for example). Cranston/Lewis/Hamm/Buscemi are all very safe though.

I wonder if Michael C. Hall might get left out this year. His trajectory reminds me of Kiefer Sutherland in that he gets nominated one more time after his show is kicked out of Drama Series.
