BB will definitely have the tapes, but it also might be dependent on how the final episodes are received. I haven't seen S2 of Homeland yet, but just judging from residual buzz it's gonna have a hard time repeating its S1 victories.

GoT is going to have some deafening buzz by the end of its season if they execute the novel well.

Yeah, I was wondering if this or next season will turn it into the TV equivalent of Lord of the Rings or something like that. I agree that the disappointment over this season of Homeland will hurt it, but I'm not sure if Emmy voters will totally agree with the Twittersphere on this one. And the last episodes of Breaking Bad airing during the voting period can only help that show's chances. Crazy race!

As somebody who admit seen this season of Homeland and has only been tracking its buzz in the mt anti-spoiler way possible, it seemed to me like people went even crazier over Season 2? Am I totally off base?

  5. #65
Oh they went crazier all right, but not in the way that you mean.

The Emmys will probably never be in line with the Twittersphere and comment sections of episode reviews. Nothing in the Emmys' past would indicate that they'll cool off on Homeland for this season. As of now, I would still predict it to win Series and Actress.

As a few of you have mentioned, the next 2 seasons of Game of Thrones should inspire a crazy amount of buzz among the internet. It should be able to garner series nominations for both seasons, but I just don't know with the Emmys. It's obvious that Boardwalk Empire's creative team is better connected in the industry.

Is it spoilery to talk about GoT acting nominations for upcoming seasons? I'll put spoiler tags just to be safe: Dinklage will have a tape in Season 4 that would easily win in most years, and should still easily be nominated for his tape in Season 3. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau could possibly be a dark horse candidate too.

Downton Abbey's increase in Internet buzz for season 2 was definitely reflected by the Emmys. Season 1, in the weaker movie/mini field, it only got nominations for Smith and McGovern in, when it was critically acclaimed but not the phenomenon it became in Season 2. And in Season 2 they got 6 acting nominations despite the season being less critically acclaimed.

I hope the "Girls" love grows and they nominate Adam Driver and Zosia Mamet in their respective supporting categories. Also, I would like double nominations for writing and maybe directing. I can't wait for Season 2 to start.

With Parenthood getting an acting nomination last year and with a great season Monica Potter is having I think she will get an emmy nomination.

    I can definitely see this.

It's going to be interesting as to whether or not Arrested Development qualities. If so, the comedy races are going to be something to watch. Still not sure how a web-based series will fare with a body like this.

I think we have to assume that Arrested Development will not be eligible until we hear otherwise.

According to Alan Sepinwall Netflix has been told that it and House of Cards will be eligible.

^You shouldn't have Dockery that high on your predictions. She didn't do much this third season and McGovern should be ahead of her (if they both stay in Lead).

McGovern had the better third series (I can understand why Dockery got an Emmy nom last year plus SAG and GG noms this year since they were for the second series). Dockery will be back in there for fourth series.

McGovern is right behind Smith as likeliest to get nominated from DA. She could go lead or supporting. I could maybe see Bonneville, and Dockery in supporting, but more likely not.
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.
