I still can't believe there are going to be three of these. I feel like literally nothing happened in the first one.

Great. Now who's going to watch Sunday Rose on SAG night??
Just can't help being Debbie Downers, can ya?![]()
I'm extremely surprised at how completely un-excited I am for these myself. I've waited for this for years, ever since I can remember, literally, and suddenly I'd be fine with not seeing another one?![]()
I know I've got a big ego, I really don't know why it's such a big deal, though.
Sometimes studios stake out a (potentially) lucrative summer date, but then turns out alot of competition builds around it and what made sense with the original decision, now HOBBIT 3 would be duking out directly with X-Men DOFP. Studios try to intimidate each other into schedule retreating. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.
Probably should've been a December date from the get-go, but you never know.

I agree, they should have just followed the original format with the 3 december releases. For some reason eventhough, they are fantasy movies, they are not your usual Summer movies. They belong in later part of the year.
However, I will admit that I was happy with the July date, becuase we did not have to wait an entire year for that last movie. Now thinking on it I also think that they did not want to compete with themselves when it came to any kind of technical nominations. They could have knocked themselves out of those categories with 2 movies in the same year.
Also glad to see that they movie finally crossed over that Billion dollar mark. So, Peter Jackson joins James Cameron as the 2 directors that have hit that mark moore than once.![]()
Wicked, Trixie, False. Yes, Precious, False

Looks interesting. I thought we were done with Radaghast but apparently not. Pity.
Looks good. As always. Part II will probably be better than Part I 'cause that's where we get to Dol Guldur, and to Mirkwood (legolas!). plus, no need for introduction of story like so many people were up in arms about in December.
The live event was fun. Colbert and Fry were pretty funny. The designs of Mirkwood, Thranduil's Halls, and Laketown were pretty great. Lee Pace looks to be a strong addition, in particular, from the clips they showed of him. Evans and Fry should be good as well.
Strange isn't it during the original trilogy I would piss on my pants waiting for this but now I just don't care. It's a shame too since I did like the first Hobbit movie, but it was way too long for it's own good and with two more films the whole thing feels a bit overdone. 2, 2 to 2 1/2 hour films might have been better for this.
Hm. Could be it, but I thought the snout looked different in the first one (at least, from what we saw at the end)?
EDIT: Actually, comparing images, maybe not. If this is it, I definitely like the expression - gives a nice sense of smug villainy, and I can definitely see Cumberbatch's voice coming out of that.
