A Turkish film critic who's living in the USA said on Twitter, press screenings were held in NY and LA for The Hobbit and he says de doesn't hear good things. Now I'm worried.

The Hobbit will be my fanboy movie of the year and I admit it.

It will be that movie where I wil say "eff you critics" and not read a single review until I see it. I will love it like I did the LOTR films and of course my judgement of the Hobbit will be clouded by my love for them. And you know what? I'm fine with that.

I will not check metacritic scores, RT scores, BFCA scores, Cinemascores, ebert, scott, no one. I will see this movie, adore the scene (hopefully "scenes") where Cate Blanchett appears, love jackson, Freeman, McKellen, Weaving, Bloom, Cumberbatch and all the others for their work and put it on my top 10 list.

But I am honest as well. I know I'm a fanboy and I will proudly write a disclaimer saying that on my review...

    Oh, I almost forgot...
    eff you, critics.

I'm starting to realize how much I hate twitter. Our moods rise and fall depending on a series of "tweets". We really just need Monday to get here.

I heard in the wind that someone dreamed a man laughed that a mouse saw a word about the buzz on the penguin film critic pre-buzz blog feed with predictions of the reaction to the hashtags for the reviews of the reviews of the buzz tweets from critics who laughed more than critics who didn't and they thought The Hobbit might get some tweets that felt it was worth tweeting about.

    But don't freak out!

THE HOBBIT'in NY ve LA basın gösterimleri dün yapıldı. Pazartesine kadar eleştiri ambargosu var. Ama pek de iyi şeyler duymuyorum.

Translation would be like this: "The Hobbit's press screenings were held in LA and NY yesterday. There's an ambargo till Monday. But, i don't hear good things."

So apparently he just responded to someone with:

"Seven de var. Büyütmeye gerek yok. Pazartesinden itibaren ak koyun, kara koyun belli olacak zaten. Teşekkürler."

    Translation:

"Some loved it too. Nothing to make fuss about. After Monday everything will be clear anyway. Thanks."

Ugh, why am I engaging in this? I need to find something to do until Monday.

Yeah, fuck you to the critics who helped get Return Of The King all those year end awards! Fuck you Chicago critics (Best Pic, Director), Dallas-Ft. Worth critics (Pic & Director), Florida critics (Pic & Director), Los Angeles critics (director), National Society (Pic), New York critics (Pic), Online (Pic, Director, Screenplay).

    What a bunch of assholes.

Where's that coming from? I checked their website and they don't have it on there yet.

EDIT: Nevermind, I just did a search on their website and it came up. Now if it could just stay at that.

I wonder if the press screenings for this will be at 48 frames per second? I assume they will be.

Yeah, you're half right. i'm hoping that the critics love this. I hope to GOD they do. But... I can't help feel that they won't. I'm just saying I won't allow their pans to stop my enjoyment of the movie (i.e. I won't be going "Oh... it won't be nominated for BP" when I see it).

But You're right, I love that the critics loved ROTK and I should praise them for that. Well done, critics!!!

Given the depths of Colbert's Tolkien fandom (and his rumored cameo in one of the later movies), I sincerely hope he enjoys the film. Otherwise it's going to be a very awkward week. After all, it's not like Colbert is known for saying things he doesn't believe.
I just read that the other day, I can't wait to see this. He is such a GEEK for JRR and he knows his stuff . I love the interview with James Franco & it turned to LOTR. I do think that this movie will be WELL received, Yeah, there may be some picking at the movie( like comparing it to RINGS, or just pissed off about the new FPM stuff, etc...) I think that the movies will once again be a Critical & box office success. I got my tickets

Will there be a Premiere here in the US also, I know that they have a screening but, what about a actual premiere

Just saw a review of the Hobbit in German tv.
The reviewer mentioned that it is overlong and overpacked with action, just like other blockbusters...
Not a very deep review but i wanted to mention it.

Got these tweets from another board:

First reactions from the screening in LA today.

    Joanclair Richter ‏@joanclairme

Hobbit screening - visually stunning. The beginning of it all. Peter Jackson Q & A - what a mind!
    Matthew P. Spill ‏@matthewspill

Hobbit was great! 48fps is weird. Neat but not necessary. Can't wait for next December!
    Jason T. Clark ‏@Jason_T_Clark

#Hobbit was fantastic!!! So happy to be back in Middle-Earth. This is a must see. 48Fps is interesting, but overall I didn't care for it.

Also, 3D was some of the best I've seen. Looking forward to seeing it again in IMAX 3D
    Nicholas DeNitto ‏@NicksMovies

Just saw The Hobbit and was STUNNED. See this movie in 3D at 48 FPS! It looks incredible!
    Scott Squires ‏@scott_squires

#hobbit 3D 48fps works. Won't be confused with cheap video. Less stereo artifacts. Only a few shots with odd motion. (speed changes?)
    Marques T. Owens ‏@mothemogul

@JonasRJakobsen It was good. Great beginning to a new trilogy. A bit goofy at times....
    Brian Duffield ‏@BrianDuffield

I dug the hell out of The Hobbit. It's sillier but super fun.

    EASILY best blockbuster of 2012.
    Antoi Antzoulides ‏@AntoiAntz

Wow. Just saw The Hobbit and I'm exhausted. They journey to middle earth has wiped me out!
    Jade Moser @jademoser

'The Hobbit' was amazing! Visually stunning, mesmerizing, superb acting.. If you're in the guild circuit, rsvp for the next screening asap!
    VeronicaCorningstone ‏@corganight

    The Hobbit was AWESOME! !!

Sounds like it would've made a great three hour single film.
