Perfect balance of comedy and nail biting drama. More Cary, Kalinda and all the funny guest characters next season, please.
I'm very happy with Alicia's choice. I hope it means that she has definitely chosen to stick it out with Peter. I don't think he's good for her, but I don't like Will either. I think, aside from the betrayal of leaving the firm and taking clients, being at a different firm makes it somehow easier for a potential Will/Alicia relationship to actually happen. Nevertheless, her decision is risky and mature, and it will make for an awesome season, hopefully.
I think that Diane's not going to get the seat on the court. I have a feeling that that's not going to work out because of her associate with Will. Isn't that what the chief judge suggested when they met? Whatever happens, they really put things in place for an exciting fifth season and it feels organic to these characters and the trajectory of the show. Also, the second half and in particular this final episode made for all but forget the relatively weak first half of the season. I just hope that next year they have more for Kalinda to do. I'd like to see how they make a Kalinda/Cary relationship work.
This was a steillar finale to a season that had to rebound from a major and rare misstep midseason (NICK), and then delivering well from that point forward. I think "The Good Wife" has more than earned a seat back at the drama series table at the Emmys, and this episode makes a strong case for that. The Kings are reshuffling the entire deck now, and that's exciting to watch from a viewer's standpoint when showrunners are this ballsy. I'm so ready for Cary and Alicia to become the new Will and Diane (but that ain't happening without La Kalinda in their employ first). If this move makes it easier for Will and Alicia to become a couple again, then I'll ready my vomit in advance. I don't mind her being with Peter, since I think they've earned a reconciliation, and I like the idea of Alicia as First Lady of Illinois (or until the vote tampering becomes an issue again) AND managing partner at her own law firm. But I'd rather see her be single than trudging up another lackluster relationship pairing with Will again. The guest stars were as great as ever here. I couldn't tell you how happy I was seeing Estelle Parsons on my television screen again basically playing Bev Harris (and the beret?). Denis O'Hare and Martha Plimpton rocked it again too. I also wonder what happens with Diane now. I wouldn't mind seeing her landing the Supreme Court seat, and Will is left alone with David Lee as his new managing partner lol. There's so many storyline possibilities now for next season, and that makes the show as vital as it ever was at this point in its run. I'm hoping for the best all the same, and the Kings seem to be as assured in their storytelling as ever.
Shine bright like an Qscar . . .
I totally agree. Emmy-wise, I would love to see the show back in the Drama Series mix, but I think its inconsistencies will definitely keep it out. Early in the season, the negative criticisms were well publicized. The mid-season turnaround, however, seems to have gone largely ignored in comparison. The buzz just isn't there anymore, unfortunately. Margulies, Baranski, and probably Panjabi are safe, as are a couple of the guest stars.
The thing I love about this show is it's guest stars and I wonder what exicting people can come in season five. Of course the regulars will come back like Fox (less since he has a new NBC show), Plimpton (probably season finale again), Baker, Preston, Channing and Cole to name a few. Who do you all think could be guest stars on the show.
For a broadcast drama to be in the Emmy race after being booted out of it it needs something like Lost's The constant. So does the good wife have it's version of that? It's a broadcast drama so it automatically is viewed as creatively compromised so it needs to be really really good. Emmy voters has dropped all the broadcast dramas from real consideration even the good wife pre-Nick!!
Yes, Red Team/Blue Team is the episode that turned the show around and pulled it out of its slump.
Agree!
I'm hoping that episode is an indication of great things to come in season 5. Can't wait to have Will, Diane and Kalinda on one side, and Cary and Alicia on the other side for real this time.
That being said, I also hope Kalinda will switch teams as soon as possible. I enjoy her loyality to Will, but I'm still hoping she can rebuild her friendship with Alicia somehow.
Frankly it doesn't matter what she submits because she's a lock to be nominated regardless but she has no chance to win at all.
But yes, it should be Red Team/Blue Team.
