Has anyone heard the new Katy B/Jessie Ware collaboration "Aaliyah"? Thoughts? It's strange, hypnotic.

In Metacritic it's possible to see all the critics lists. There's also one chart daily updated. http://www.metacritic.com/feature/to...albums-of-2012

Actually, Katy B's entire Danger EP is pretty great. Anyone listening?

There's nothing like going into a music store and finding something you've been looking for for ages.

I'm studying in a coffee shop/record store in my college town, and took a break to flip through the racks. Though I didn't find Sunny Day Real Estate on vinyl, or Fleetwood Mac's Tusk on an original pressing, I did find this CD, which was only released in the Chicago area:

Except that I got the super-rare repressing without the 'split ep' tag at the bottom and with some different track listings. I don't think I can express how excited I am for this purchase - I don't care if the CD ends up totally blowing or whatever, this is one of the holy grail of emo-pop collectors, and I fucking have it now. In its rarest form.

Yeah, I LOVE all four of these tracks (and I didn't even respond all that strongly to Katy B's album last year).

I posted it few months back and now seeing it some year-end lists reminds me how good it is (and of Emili Sande too):

This is gorgeous, I had not idea about it. The interesting thing is that it is not the music (unexpected in the genre) but the layered, dreamy vocals which are indeed hypnotic and it gets more mesmerizing in the last minute. The lyrics and of course the title reminded me of something totally unrelated: Jolene by Dolly Parton!

So Tamar Braxton has a #1 itunes single thanks to Lady Gaga but seriously this song is better than anything Toni has released in 8 years.

Britney's US #1s 3 & Hold It Against Me missed the T5 in the UK, but currently Scream and Shout is #2 on the UK iTunes. The same songs were #10 & #31 in France, but S&S hit #5 in France.
Perhaps it'll be a comeback of sorts for her internationally?

Let's not pretend that's a Britney Spears song, shall we?

I know what you mean Au, but technically she's the only reason it's getting any sort of success at all, so...

If by comeback, you mean...reincarnation as an old soul-sucking musical vampire with a horrid British accent (see: Madonna), I'd say you're correct!

Oh my dear. My friend bought me Diamond Rings' "Free Dimensional" for Christmas, and I'm in total love. "I'm Just Me" is pop perfection.

LOL, no. Will.I.Am has just as much success with a total nobody as his vocalist du jour, so just no.

All of his solo efforts have been flops! "Check It Out" was the closest he came to the top 20, but that was because it was released under the Nicki Minaj moniker. "Scream & Shout" would've been a total non-starter without Britney's named attached.

This Is Love, featuring Eva Simons (who?) is a big hit in basically the whole world except your insignificant country.

Sorry, Au, but I have to agree with verita on this. S&S would be your typical Will.I.am's flop single if it hadn't been for Britney. Will.i.am pretty much aknowledged that too.

Well at least he knows this was and should have been a flop single.

Love and War is now #15 on iTunes. Big Fall after being #1 for a few days.

Top 3 is, in order: Locked Out Of Heaven, I Knew You Were Trouble and Ho Hey. The Lumineers are getting a nice boost after the Grammy Nominations Concert.

As if it mattered whether the song is another one of will.i.am.'s flop single or not. A shit song is a shit song is a shit song. Just goes to show how deaf Britney's fans are and the fact that they have such shitty taste, supporting a shit single that does nothing other than highlight how shitty Britney sounds.

    Okay, enough shit for now
