Two songs from The Hunger Games!
Safe & Sound and Abraham's Daughter
OMFG KELLY. This is glorious.
It's glaring that Frank Ocean was largely snubbed in the genre categories. I won't even go into that. I'm SO thrilled that he was able to snag Album, Record and Best New Artist!
Not that much to hate here, really. I mean, LMFAO and Maroon 5 are horrible, but at least better stuff will prevail in those categories.
Very happy to see Bruce do well in the rock categories.
I also absolutely love that "Call Me Maybe" made SOTY. Lmao.
Oh, and shit. Taylor getting into ROTY is kind of hilarious. That category is a crapshoot, although it's likely between Gotye and fun..
It's also worth noting that Mumford and Sons wasn't even nominated for Rock Album. Very weird.
Kathy Griffin is nominated again.![]()
I think this is like the first year she isn't up against some already dead or near-dead comedian.
Still, Jimmy Fallon probably wins.
LMFAO and isn't Mumford and Sons a British band?!
But hey, at least The Lumineers got nominated in that category!
You shouldn't be able to submit in Rock for your songs but a different category for the album, just to secure a win.
Man, I would love it if Frank Ocean takes Album.
Ooo, the "Rock of Ages" soundtrack got nominated!
If only this would help CZJ get her EGOT!
!
WE'RE GONNA FIGHT!
This weekend...one last chance to save Halle's career from complete oblivion. Oh, wait...
"...it's already done."
#THECALL.
I think I might be most happy about M83's two nominations.
Grammys are such a strange animal. The nominations are all over the place, and doesn't make much sense.
However, say what you want, the Album of the Year nominees this year, although very male-centric, is seriously the best line-up in terms of critical acclaim for the Grammys in a long long while, and finally not an embarrassment. It is miles better than the past three year's Album of the Year line-ups (think Katy Perry, Lady Antebellum, Black Eyed Peas, Bruno Mars, etc.). Three of the five albums received great reviews (The Black Keys, Frank Ocean and Jack White). Mumford and Sons' nomination is understandable, save for their mediocre reviews, just in terms of overall impact, while Fun's nomination is a bit more puzzling, but still, considering they had several hit singles.
