Am I missing something? Where's the Pitt hate train? In fact, I'd say his run from Babel onwards to Moneyball last year has given him a new-found fan following.

Killing Them Softly had a lot of haters and bombed at the B.O., plus the Chanel ad. He had a bit of a down year following his 2011, which had to be a career year for him.

Parts of this were filmed right next to the college I attended in Glasgow. The extras were really fucking loud.

I dunno that either of those things are earning Pitt any new haters.

Agreed. His peers(Will Smith, Depp, Downey, Cruise) are not even trying to do interesting work. I really respect the fact he's not doing tons of paycheck jobs like them and i'm sure i'm not the only one who does.

I've always been a fan. And his film choices and work over the past 5 years or so has really validated my (somewhat) fandom

Cruise did his auteur streak. Pitt is just catching up to him, plus Oblivion looks way better than this.

The Super Bowl trailer is just terrible and it is genuinely strange that the filmmakers are steering as far away from saying that this is a movie about zombies. Are they not aware that "The Walking Dead," a show with a very traditional view of zombies, is a massive hit right now? I will see this as a huge fan of the book and zombies in general, but I sense a real bomb here. I'm not Pitt hater, but as a main behind-the-scenes player in this, he will deserve a lot of blame when this almost certainly flops.

It was written by J. Michael Straczynski (the writer of Changeling) and it feels like a mixture of District 9 and Contagion. It's incredibly ambitious in terms of scope and plays the whole zombie angle completely straight. It's not your usual "zombie" flick and features some potentially amazing frightening sequences. It also seems to follow the book, as it has the main character INTERVIEWING survivors after the whole ordeal took place. I can see why Brad Pitt would be attracted to THIS project.

However, the ACTUAL film that's already been shot sounds like Beyond Borders with zombies. I really don't get how studios undertake projects like this one that are obviously not fully baked. This whole thing reminds of The Island of Dr. Moreau remake. They had an ambitious original script with TONS of potential, got an unexperienced director to helm it and ended up fucking the whole thing up.
Interesting, a lot of people on the WWZ forums were complaining about the studio having only bought the name of the book because it seemed like they had completely abandoned the idea of following the book or accurately adapting it.

Yeah, but Pitt basically got Twelve Years a Slave off the ground and he's got a great role in The Counselor. Oblivion likely being better than World War Z means nothing when you factor in that. When Cruise takes a great role again or takes a risk, maybe we can put them in the same conversation. Until then, he's still paychequing.

Of course the quality matters, because Cruise has been making these types of movies his whole career.

Cruise's filmography over the past decade is much better than Pitt's.

Oh my. I'll just say I hope you're in the minority there and move on. It's startling to me how underrated an actor/producer Pitt is considering who he is.

If there's any reason to hate Brad Pitt, it should be for his attempts at furniture design.

The Superbowl spot is terrible, of course, but doesn't Glasgow look lovely?

Can this be decent or as good as the terrific WARM BODIES was?

    Doubtful, but who knows?

I mean, everyone's expecting it to be bad so I guess it can go nowhere but up? That trailer looked better than the 1st, at least.

Aside from zombies, I'm not sure how this is comparable in tone or theme to Warm Bodies.
