I thought this was surprisingly fun. It's certainly too long, and all characters are basically archetypes (then again, this is a fairytale), but I was entertained throughout. Excellent art direction, and the FX must be a shoe-in for a nomination. Best effects I've seen in a long time.
It's all in how you read the tea leaves though. She was never dropped from a "sequel" to this because a "sequel" was never announced. A "spin-off" was announced based around the Huntsman character played by Hemsworth. So...are we splitting heirs here? You say "spin-off", I say "sequel" - and yet the difference seems to be everything, in terms of Kristin Stewart saving face.
Even if it is a "spin-off" the fact that they decided to do that instead of a sequel with their "star" speaks volumes.
I honestly thought that Hansel & Gretl film was the sequel to this.
The costumes were gorgeous, as was the art-direction. That's all I'm saying![]()

I thought Charlize was awful in this. No charisma to her overacting. She just elongated the pronunciation to her words. I think Julia Roberts would have done better here. I didn't mind Stewart, and thought she was really pretty here.
The movie isn't completely horrible, but it's too boring. Visually gorgeous, but flat.
This was visually striking. But it was boring and kstew's chin bugged me.
Perhaps when we find ourselves wanting everything, it is because we are dangerously close to wanting nothing.
http://www.radaronline.com/exclusive...rt-sanders-outNow, we have a new report stating that Stewart will indeed reprise her role as (Queen) Snow White in the sequel. According to Radar Online, Stewart has signed on to play Snow White again, but the site claims that Sanders won't be involved with this project. "The script has already been written and production will begin late next year," a source told the site. "However, Rupert Sanders definitely won't be a part of the project. Rupert didn't want to be a part of it to begin with because he is desperately still trying to save his marriage. The search is still on for a new director."
Digging this back up to echo how awful, AWFUL Charlize is in this. I mean, I couldn't keep myself from laughing at her deliveries. So bad.
That aside, it really is a stunning film. Although the plot quickly becomes nonsensical and the pacing is all over the place, it's a fun time to be had.

OMG, I loved Charlize in this? You guys are stodgy old farts. She was such fun!
I'd like to see her and Angelina Jolie in Alexander team-up for a villainess buddy movie.
MARCH 2013 PLAYLIST
Yeah, Oscar, I know. Like these people had Academy Award nominations in third grade.
Nah, Charlize was rather dull here. Like, there were certainly some attempts at something (The creepiness with her brother/servant/manslave), but it just didn't connect.
That said, she's one of the closest things this film has to something interesting. I remember seeing this over the summer at a Dollar Theatre, and I seriously considered leaving with 40 minutes to go because I was getting hungry. That's never happened to me in a movie theater, like ever.
Still the worst 2012 movie I've seen a country mile. Well, maybe half mile. Dictator was pretty bad.

Charlize was trying to Nic Cage and not overact as much as MEGA acting, or overacting by choice as part of a thespian plan. (But you're in trouble maybe when you're being compared to Nic Cage. Hey remember when he won that Oscar? Yet lifetimes ago.)
I agree with Erik, Stewart was a charisma blackhole in that movie. And considering you're supposed to follow her until Thor with an Axe shows up and all that. On paper it could've worked, but Stewart just. can't. fucking. act. It needed somebody you like, or engaged by, pretty quickly. (Jennifer Lawrence?*) In retrospect I thought the more engaging moments involves the Dwarves. (Seriously Hoskins, Jones, Winstone, why not more scenes with those guys?!?) And Thor with an Axe, who's threatening to become a Clint Eastwood/Arnold Schwarzenegger in the crowd-pleasing action field with one liners moviefield, if he plays his cards right and picks the good scripts.
*=Don't hurt me.
Looking over it, I'd say that Nic Cage had one of the best decades in the '00s of any actor. It's him, Leo, and Crowe for best filmography over that span (2000-2009).
Looking at his filmography from that era, obviously one would give him ADAPTATION and Herzog's remake of BAD LIEUTENANT. I also enjoyed MATCHSTICK MEN.
But other than them, that decade for him was just trash. (I've never seen LORD OF WAR, though to be fair. Still have no interest in it honestly.)

Maybe it is filmed entirely in the forest, that way she will blend in.
