There was a kick years back when I did my best to rent out movies that were infamous bombs. Partly out of morbid curiosity because I like to think you could learn from the stinkers as much as the classics as to what works in movies and what doesn't. Plus I wondered how many are possibly worthwhile in spite of their nefarious reputations. Anyway one of them was SORCERER, Friedkin's big budget blank check flop follow-up to his previous major hits FRENCH CONNECTION and EXORCIST.

And...I found myself rather enjoying it. Now mind you I hadn't seen WAGES OF FEAR yet, and I suppose WAGES is the better movie. But I still contend SORCERER is a really good movie, really tight, really taunt in suspense and thrills. A sophisticated "action" movie, ironically noted in retrospect for opening against STAR WARS. A worthy entry worth checking out if one wants to explore Friedkin's filmography.

Anyway, Friedkin is suing over regarding ownership rights and profit participation. Good luck to him.
