Mellie and Fitz are vomit inducing. That storyline can't end soon enough.

Following the truly shocking events of last week's episode, Scandal Season 2 fast forwards 10 months and airs another crazy hour this Thursday at 10/9c on ABC.
I guess the first 13 episodes are indeed exactly what Shonda had originally planned for the show's season 2 before the full-season pick-up. I hope it works.

She said when the back nine was announced that she planned on having them be their own individual mini-arc which I think is a smart step. I can't take any more of the Defiance election Scandal!

Soon it will be time for Fitz's re-election, no?

I think the re-election will take place in season 3. Edison will be the democratic challenger.

This has been surprisingly good after such a lame episode last week.

I am so on board for the rest of the season.

eta: LOL at the awful ZDT inspired mission

What a disaster. Many online are also commenting on the misogynistic message it sends for two women to be so hung up on a guy who treats them like crap. I mean, Fifty Shades of Grey is popular, but that doesn't mean it should be emulated.

I think the popularity of the show will also plummet in the weeks to come because the Super Exciting Super Serialized storyline of the shooting/aftermath is over, and they're back to their lame-o standalone Case of the Week turds. The show basically seems incapable of having a strong episode without liberal use of Awesome flashbacks to the election and its aftermath.

ETA: I'll just quote others on Twop: "I'm tired of watching Fitz jerk and shove and push Liv all over the damn place. Was that supposed to be hot? Really? That was the most uncomfortable, disturbing shit I've seen in a while. Liv, have some pride FOR ONCE!"
"Mellie. Where is Lady MacBeth? She has gone from a strong woman with her own extra marital affair to a blow up doll."
"That was disgusting. Fitz basically calls her a whore last week, treats her like a whore 10 months later, and it's still tongues in throats and take me from behind."
"Millie, I can't hate on a woman trying to save her marriage, but both shower scenes made me feel sorry for you."
I dunno, I find it hard to like a show if I dislike everyone on it. But maybe that's why I can't bring myself to worship Breaking Bad...though I suppose I like Jesse.

    Two?

Oh you think Mellie is hung up on Fitz?

LOL. She's using him for power.

ETA: You have a point (maybe) about having Liv continuing to going back to Fitz over and over again...except that stopped this episode. Well it stopped last episode, too, but...

I think the ratings are going to go up. Many online are calling Mellie a bitch and swooning all over Fitz and defending the atrocious erection line. WHY???

I feel like this show has so much potential and they are killing it by constantly using Kerry and Tony's chemistry as a crutch and writing these increasingly terrible scenes for them to act out. It's like Gossip Girl 2.0. I would really like it if we could take a break from Fitz. Can Cocaine break out of prison and maybe shoot him again? Pretty please?

Yes. It was intentionally uncomfortable, and what made you think Liv was happy about it in the end? It was near rape...

Ok, that was messy. The episode was not that bad, but I was really annoyed by the 10 months later thing. I felt like I had missed the second half of season 2 and season 3 just started. And what for? Why 10 months? It would be better to have like a real month break and also one month in the story's timeline, it could have been basically the same episode. But just one week after episode 13 felt really disconnected with what we were seeing before.

Anyways, the whole hostage thing was ridiculous. I wish the show wouldn't try to deal with international relations. It would be a bit weird since it is a show about the US presidency, but I think it would be for the better. Scandal seems not to care about the outside world (media, public). I mean, the president of the US was shot, but there was no feeling of urgency, no understading of how this affected the US as a nation. It seems like it happened in Pawnee: it mattered to Olivia, Cyrus, Mellie, but none outside their circle. The stories only resonate to the characters (and us) when it's personal to them. East Sudan? Who cares about that? Who cares about hostages?

    This was cringeworthy:

    - We have a mole
    - Damn it!

LOL Yeah, we have a mole, and guess what? It's Nina Myers!

I'm not that annoyed by Fitz as others are though. He was betrayed in a way that makes him question everything and I can understand that. But there was nothing about the fact that he killed someone the episode before. He is okay with that decision? That's scary. Olivia needs a break though, and I hope she gets it. No more weird sex with Fitz, Livvie, you are strong!!!

I did like the ending though.

Oh, and I hated that grey coat Olivia was wearing most of the episode. It made Kerry look really weird.

I still think that Fitz dragging Olivia to hunting and trying to have sex with her in front of secret service men was much worse. These two need a clean break asap!

Mellie should quit trying to be the wife too. Just be the first lady and that's it.

I pretty much agree. Let Liv be the strong woman we were led to believe she was at the start of the series. As for Mellie, I want her to become even more wicked!

Predictably no one has a problem with Mellie forcing herself on Fitz.

I approve of more wicked Mellie! She is great! And I think Bellamy Young has been doing a terrific job with this character.

Mellie >>>>>>> Cyrus, btw. Cyrus annoys me to no end and I find Jeff Perry's acting very mannered.
