Not a strong ep to come back to following the break. Those torture scenes with Huck left me queasy (and now I'm sort of terrified because I'm supposed to see Zero Dark Thirty this weekend and it's probably going to be worse than what they show on TV).

I thought it was an absolutely fantastic episode!

    Will Oscar have Riva Fever?

What can I say! I wish I felt the same. I don't know there were lots of nice little moments (Cocaine telling Huck her real name was Kate, Huck coming back to the office, Mellie!) but altogether it felt kind of bumpy. At least Edison and Liv seem to be over. He's such an ass.

I thought it was ok, nothing extraordinary though. There was so much going and everything was important, but I was bored at times. It felt a bit a clunky.

Glad about Edison and Olivia too. Leave her to the president and that's it.

I'm so glad I started watching this! After 2 days I'm already at Episode 8 of Season 2. One of the best and addictive shows EVER.

And Kerry Washington needs an Emmy nomination this year. ASAP I kinda also like Bellamy Young (First Lady).

I think Kerry Washington definitely should be a nominee this year. I hear more and more people talking about Scandal every week.

This show is so much better when it involves A) flashbacks, B) White House stuff over Pope and Associates, and C) the Liv-Fitz relationship being the center of the show. I didn’t like it QUITE as much as Happy Birthday Mr. President, but it was still great. Kerry Washington’s cryface is very, very effective and I hope she gets an Emmy nom. It also had a great cliffhanger ending, and the next episode looks like another must-see.

I wonder if one of these days Scandal will actually beat its lead-in program Grey’s Anatomy, which peaked in its 2nd season quality-wise. This is pretty much the show, in terms of exciting shockers and awesome though morally ambiguous females, that Revenge was for 1 season before the writers blew that to hell.
    It's one of the few 10 o'clock shows this season with 3 post-premiere episodes get a 2.5 - 2.5, 2.6, 2.8. CSI has gotten 2.5, 2.6, 2.6. Plus Revolution which has The Voice as a lead-in.

This week: Relationship drama was whatever, but OMG the shocking end. They like to drone on about how Perfect the president is, and how horrified he would be if he found out that the election was rigged. But when he finds out, he PULLS THE PLUG on a conspirator slash Supreme Court justice and she dies. Whoa.

WOW. This week's episode was intense but an excellent episode. One of the best yet, imo.

Also I don't get why some people are complaining about it. If Olivia and Fitz had their happy ending right away, the show wouldn't be as good as it is. Enough with silly fanboyism!

Yes, this episode was so awesome. I like the backbone that they gave Fitz in this episode. It wasn't a good thing for his character but with all of the crazy stuff happening with everyone else in the ensemble, it was a good turn. I just really hope Emmy-wise that Kerry Washington is recognized for the stellar performances she's turning in each week like when Fitz told her to forget about being with him.

I really think Kerry Washington's going to be Emmy-nominated for this season. It's probably all the show can expect, but it will be just. She's fantastic.

Well the ratings are increasing week after week and that could only help regarding Emmy noms!

I think Washington might be a safe bet at the moment but I kinda want to expect other noms as well, if the popularity grows/stay at this level. :wishfulthinking:

Drama categories are really crowded, so I'd be hopeful for Washington, but not much else. I agree she'd be a safe bet, but who else would even have a shot, Goldwyn if he has some good episodes later in the season. Jeff Perry has some good, complex scenes as well especially in this episode.

Maybe somebody in Guest (I don't know who yet)? And one of the Writing/Directing since they're unpredictable? They have nominated Grey's twice in 2006 in Writing when it was in its prime of popularity/quality.

I there some sort of competition among the show runners on who will make more disgusting and despicable and irredeemable the characters? This show is just topped that level.

I would love to see Kerry Washington nominated too! I think Bellamy Young is also terrific as Mellie. These two make the whole relationship drama work.

And speaking of women, here's hoping we will see more of Kate Burton. VP Langston can be a fascinating character.

Yep, I agree. Those cases of the week always seemed forced. With ratings improving week after week I think the show knows how to please its audience.

But, I have to wonder, have they gone too far? Rigged elections, Supreme Court Justice tries to kill the president, president kills Supreme Court Justice... I didn't think Fitz would learn the truth so soon. I don't want to see with this show following Revenge's steps, they had so much going on and everything was going so fast, things eventually started to derail pretty fast too.

Random, but I would love to see Senator Edison as Fitz's opponent when he runs for re-election.

There's only 2 episodes left, right? I thought this season was only 15.

No. ABC ordered more 9 episodes in October, I think. So it's 22.

    First order had 13 episodes.

I think so. It seemed like a good idea at the start of the year, but I can't help feeling like it's a regrettable decision. I'm afraid ending the season in Feb. is going to ice the ratings by creating too big of a gap between now and the fall premiere.
