I've been on the bandwagon since the project was announced last year.

Marge she's got Blood Ties for next year, granted its a supporting role and not huge. But if James Gray premieres the film at TIFF as expected and finds a distributor they won't hold off until 2013.

Between Rust & Bone and Low Life, it's looking like a good year for Cotillard to return to the Oscar lineup

It'd be interesting if Cotillard were nominated for R&B. 2 for 2 nods in French? There's probably some statistic about nominations in a foreign language... anyone know if someone's first + second Oscar nominations were both for a foreign lang?

Rust & Bone or Lowlife? I think she's getting in, no matter what.

That's a fairly silly assertion to make.

Forget Rust and Bone AND Lowlife.

She's getting nominated for The Dark Knight Rises!

    LOL

And I'm sure that since Blood Ties is already filming, Marion will likely be in one or two other top notch films in 2013 as well. She's been in at least 2 quality films a year since she won her Oscar: (2009: Public Enemies, Nine), (2010: Little Whites Lies, Inception), (2011: Midnight in Paris, Contagion), (2012: Rust and Bone, The Dark Knight Rises, Lowlife), (2013: Blood Ties, ???). Her worst reviewed film so far has been Nine, and she was considered a potential Oscar nominee for that. I'm starting to think that her agent deserves an Oscar too.

I wonder, do you think Noomi Rapace (Prometheus) have a chance?

Best Actress is always so weak and she looks so good in the trailer.

I mean, she could have a shot if she out-Weavers Weaver, but Best Actress is rarely 'weak'

Besides, I see Prometheus as the Ridley Scott show

    Thanks for your reply.

I don't know, in my opinion, Best Actress has been weak those last years. I think it's so much easier to win or get a nomination for Best Actress than it is for Best Actor. That's really the impression I have.

Most people see it the other way around. Last year there a good handful of snubs in the Best Actress category, not so much in Best Actor.

And if your gonna say that Natalie Portman or Meryl Streep were weak, than you got another thing coming.

Sandra Bullock on the other hand.....

I get what you are saying. The actual nominees have usually been on the weaker side, but the category itself is stacked every year with potentials, so those who may be deserving but are not highly buzzed, in big films or have recognizable names usually get shafted.

BT starts filming on April 30. But yeah she's circulating a few projects this year so we'll find out whether she does them or has a rest since she's filmed four projects back to back (even if three are supporting roles).

So ... Marion Cotillard, Helen Hunt and Naomi Watts ... this best actress race would be in a "paraplegyc" mood ?

Noomi Rapace doesn't have a chance. That said, I do think she could pull off a nomination in the coming years. She's doing a good job of getting parts in high-profile studio films.

But they were? Hell, the last great winner in this category was Marion Cotillard. The last four years have been a mess.
