The Raven will overperform the week after and trump it from the top.

Lucky One and/or Think Like a Man should pretty easily pass THG next weekend. So yeah, five weekends at #1 is highly unlikely.

However, THG does look like it should have 28 straight days at #1 (The longest daily streak since The Sixth Sense nearly 13 years ago), and has passed Pretty Woman to become the highest grossing March release, adjusted for inflation, since The Godfather 40 Marches ago. Oh, and last weekend it passed The Twilight Saga: Eclipse to become the highest grossing movie of all time with a actress being top-billed. A truly fantastic run.

I'm not usually one to harp on terrible movies making a lot of money, because hey, Armageddon is one of my favorites, who the fuck am I to judge someone else's taste?

But this is just fucking sad.

Are you saying The Hunger Games is sad or Twilight?

Oh whoops, read that wrong, I thought it said Twilight was still the highest grossing. But either way, the fact that it USED to be, before THG passed it, gives me a sad.

This is the country that's pioneering 3D porn, right? Okay, just checking.

I'm kinda surprised Titanic didn't do better in the US, with this weekend being its centennial. I'm curious what the expectations were - has it underperformed? Overperformed? Or is this what was expected?

So nobody is talking about the real shocking performance of this week's box office? The Three Stooges getting mixed critical reception and apparently a good WoM? Wasn't this supposed to bomb badly?

Funny thing is, it's being shown in HK uncut. Go figure.

I know the so-called "experts" were really bullish on it, but honestly state-side its on par with similar recent re-releases. I mean considering we're talking about a 3 hour movie that's on DVD and you're asking folks to pay $10+ to see it again, and with HUNGER GAMES still out there well I consider $40+ million to be good.

(How can a re-release making $200 million and more to come be considered an under-performer?)
    Movies recently reviewed by RRA:

    Star Trek (2009)
    Pain & Gain (2013)
    Oblivion (2013)
    Jurassic Park III (2001)
The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

The New RRA: Less Spam, still 100% ruining AD.
