Well you know aliens they like to disguise themselves so why not an old rat? But agree with you about Bay.

The originals films were pretty bad to begin with why dont the TMNT fans complain about that.

The original turtles movie was shot on only a $13 Million budget, so maybe TMNT fans don't feel the need for Bay to waste $100-$150M on a terrible TMNT movie?

I'll defend the first one as being kinda watchable actually, more ambitious in what that production wanted to try to pull off considering they're making a movie off a cartoon about pizza-eating ninja turtles. The sequels were bad however.

Of course, I would also add: Does the world really need another TMNT movie? I would say no.

The first movie is pretty damn cool in that it was surprisingly gritty for a kids' movie and has this weird, cheapo quality to it that stems from it being an indie production. It's so unusual to see a popular kids' property get to the big screen in such a shabby manner and so the movie ends up being kind of unique. The sets are dismal, the actors all dirty and gross, but the costumes are still excellent and quite faithful to the original designs. Shredder isn't played as a joke and the four turtles have decent chemistry together. Plus, I love the big final fight on the rooftop. It's not a phenomenal movie or anything, but I still find it fun and curiously strange.

The second Turtles flick (The Secret of the Ooze) is a much more playful, silly flick that ditches the grit in favour of tons of goofy gags. I loved it as a kid and thought it was absolutely hilarious and I still think it has a few funny moments. Jim Henson's Creature Shop put in great work once again and the addition of hulking brutes Tokka and Rahzar is pretty fun. The set pieces are quite entertaining and I appreciate the big change in tone that was attempted, mostly because it's just so random and different. Again, not a great movie, but a decent, accessible one nonetheless. I can't defend the Vanille Ice cameo, though.

The third Turtles movie, though, is complete crap. The lack of Jim Henson's Creature Shop proves disastrous and it's all downhill from there.

Update on the Michael Bay-produced TMNT movie.

Now they aren't teenagers either and the film will be called "Ninja Turtles"

Now mind you, this is only a working theory, but given some time to bake and rise in the AD ovens, I think it may eventually crust to popular opinion.
You've put more thought into this one post that Bay has put into all of his movies combined.

No longer Teenage and possibly Alien Ninja Turtles shut down indefinitely.

The reboot that no one seemed to ask for apparently has script problems and so Paramount has shut down production until they can figure some stuff out. The article says the release date may be pushed back from December 2013 to May 2014, but who knows. Good riddance, I guess.

Also, wow, it must suck to be a Paramount exec right now. Outside of Star Trek 2, it's like a sinking ship over there. First G.I. Joe 2, then World War Z, and now this. Ouch.

Shutting it down/post-poning actually sounds.....intelligent? I mean after WORLD WAR Z, I think that's pretty safe.

    Yeah this!

I grew up watching the cartoon and when I saw the final confrontation with Shredder and the Turtles I was thinking. "H*** S**T Shredder is kicking so much a$$".

And the first TMNT was a brave approach to tell a much darker story than what was expected at the time. I did remember enjoying it.
