    1. Lisa Kudrow (she was really lazy in most of the episodes I've seen from the later seasons, but the brilliance she has at her best makes her deserve this spot)
    2. David Schwimmer
    3. Jennifer Aniston
    4. Matthew Perry
    5. Matt LeBlanc
    6. Courteney Cox

The great thing about Friends was how every member of the cast had great material at one point or another. There were great performances every season from different members of the cast. I would say...

Season 1: Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer
Season 2: Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer
Season 3: Jennifer Aniston, David Schwimmer
Season 4: Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry
Season 5: Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry
Season 6: Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc
    Season 7: Courteney Cox
Season 8: Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, David Schwimmer
    Season 9: Lisa Kudrow
Season 10: Courteney Cox, Matthew Perry

And reflecting back, it's so clear how strong seasons four and five were for the show. It's insane Lisa Kudrow was the show's only nomination (and win) for season four.

This show was fine in a "There's nothing else on at 3:00 in the afternoon and I have nothing better to do" kind of way...

It's absolutely fine as popcorn entertainment. And unlike many arguably better shows, it stayed consistently watchable throughout its entire lifespan.

Probably Lisa Kudrow. As much as I enjoy Friends, Phoebe's the only character that can consistently make me laugh.

There were a few good episodes but overall it wasn't good. The series finale was a nice send-off, though (especially the last scene).
This I can agree with, I have seen some season 10 episodes recently and I was appalled how Rachel/Joey started and concluded. Yeah know I was all for this arc but the whole thing was handled just to create an obstacle for Rachel and Ross to get together. We all knew seince like season 2 or 3 that Ross and Rachel would get together in the end but I found it so manipulative how the show toyed with our feelings for Rachel and Joey. And even if they wouldn't end up together they could have broken up in a way that made us sympathize with them more, especially Joey. It was like "hey it turns out were not comfortable making out and having sex ... ok let's just drop it".

That said Season 9 and 10 wasn't too much to my liking I actually think the whole thing with Mike and Phoebe kept the season afloat. Yeah Paul Rudd was my favoriate character in season 10.

As for the performances it's really hard to pick my favoraite since they all played their roles very well. However I always felt Courtney Cox was the weak link in the series, not sure why but I was never that impressed with her performance.

I actually completely agree with this assessment and have always felt like an odd one out for not considering Richards' Kramer a piece of comedic genius or something. And of course referring to Seinfeld's acting as even "amateurish" would be an act of charity in itself. Jason & Julia were just truly next-level, though. Such a contrast between the two strong and two weak links in that foursome.

But anyway, I love Friends as well and always found Aniston's work in it to be underrated. McTaco hit the nail on the head in saying that she really developed a funny and engaging character despite there being less to work with than the others in terms of idiosyncrasies and what have you.

Ok, this thread needs to die.

It's been as painfully long as this godawful show's series run.

So happy I stumbled onto this topic! Friends is my all-time favorite show, bar none. I've probably seen every episode like 30 times and don't ever get tired of it, lol. I'll admit it had missteps along the way, and there were certain seasons that had stale ruts (mostly season 10). But I agree with whoever said it has an amazing ensemble. All of the actors were just perfectly cast for their parts and clicked together from episode 1 to the series finale.

Seasons 4 and 5 are just so amazing, though. I can pretty much quote "The One With the Embryos" and "The One Where Everybody Finds Out" from memory at this point.

Ranking them has always been hard for me, but it'd probably be something like:
    1. Rachel
    2. Chandler
    3. Phoebe
    4. Joey
    5. Monica
    6. Ross

All the actors had something to bring to the table, though. Aniston was the best dramatic actor, Schwimmer was the best physical comedian, Perry had the best line deliveries, Kudrow made Phoebe wonderfully weird without being annoying, and LeBlanc and Cox were hilarious and improved with every season too. The show will always have a special place in my heart.

And adding to the Seinfeld discussion: probably my second favorite sitcom but I totally agree with the assessment that Louis-Dreyfus and Alexander owned that show from beginning to end.

Ha, that’s pretty much the perfect post to follow Pingy’s bitter, grumpy, absolutely unnecessary remark. Why so bitter, Pingy? Are you 80?

Let’s keep this thread alive forever.

Perry and Kudrow were the best comedians, but I have a soft spot for Cox. When Monica was going all crazy it was pure gold.

But the most hilarious Friends moment ever was all Anistonīs, imo. When she opens the door dressed as a bride and shouts I DOOOOOOOO. LMFAO I laughed so hard.

Lisa Kudrow ofc, an underrated comedic genius.
