I'm glad Albert Nobbs wasn't just a one-off comeback for Close. It looks like it may have been a career resurgence for her. That's not a bad thing.

LMAO, I like Glenn and all, but this actually seemed like a decent project and a good post-Oscar role for her. She lost again to Jessica Lange. She's lost Oscar to her (1982), and then SAG this past year...now watch Lange get nominated. Haha. Glenn will be forever an Oscar nominee.

Damn... Olsen did an interview recently and mentioned Close. She`s attached to this movie since 2006 or something. Poor woman.

I have to say there is alot more excitement with Jessica Lange's acting right now, than with Close's. Lange killed it with both Grey Gardens and American Horror Story recently. Close may have gotten an Oscar nod but all a casting Director has to do is watch Albert Nobbs to know which of the two they would rather have in their movie right now.

Albert Nobbs was nominated for three Oscars. THREE.
How did that happened? Did really no one see that before? Did they just nominate Close because they felt they had to?
We all know that case exists for Meryl. They hear a new project, they give a damn sh*t who actually direct it and placed her in top of every ballot. They spend the rest of the season to find the other four actresses for the spots.
    Well, not anymore.

Why did they replace Close? WTF, there must be a good reason behind this, and it better be a leading role for her in another movie-

Is anyone besides Nikki saying Close was replaced? Because this is the kind of casting issue I would've expected to get some attention. Frankly, Close being replaced by Lange is bigger news than Isaacs' casting. I don't get why she wouldn't elaborate on it. I really wonder if it could just be a mistake on her part. I know I've seen this from her before. Just human error when you're cranking out 15 stories a day.

this is a very difficult book to get onto film. Also happens to be one of my favourites.

If it is handled sensitively and properly, these roles are DYNAMITE for Oscars...

but the 'Therese' role is the LEAD, every other is supporting...

Close is still listed in the IMDB pre production. That being said, the director's credits so far don't make me think this is going to be Oscar bait. If she did leave the project, she may have seen have seen that this wasn't what she hoped it would be. Lange is enjoying a nice comeback, hopefully The Big Valley goes quietly to DVD/VOD and doesn't disrupt it.

I'm not sure I can picture Jessica Lange's hyper-botoxed, hyper-lifted odd face in a period film*. Close was (is?) a better fit.

In the end she says that her next project is an adaptation of Zola novel Therese Raquim

Amazing movie. Olsen is stuning but there are no words to describe Lange turn here. I wonder who will go Lead and Supporting here.
