Twelve Years A Slave - Rated R for violence/cruelty, some nudity and brief sexuality.

That means the film is completely finished, right? Which means THR is wrong, and will be ready for Cannes!?
I hope the torture scenes are long, unpleasant, gory, painful and atrocious.
Well, that's McQueen's thing, no ?
Misery as a grand statement about the world.
Watch them suffer in Cinemascope, Red Epic Cameras and Dolby Atmos !!!
I am just saying that some indie filmmakers are as predictable as some blockbuster or horror filmmakers.
McQueen is into misery porn and his 3 films are just that.
This guy makes Hostel type movies for the Awards circuit with great actors.
You saw a version of the film, so maybe you can confirm/contradict that it didn't have an original score at the time. Another person who was at a test screening said that they noticed a very distracting temp score. I think the "not being finished" but getting a rating may mean that they've arrived at an edit that they're satisfied with and could submit to the ratings board, but they're waiting on the music. That means the film is completely finished, right? i seriously need this in my life.

Well... the film needed some editing done, quite long. I know like two scenes that could be cut out, and wouldn't affect the movie at all imo.
It might have been a temp. score... I was thinking that while watching. But I am not 100% sure.
The visual look component of the film wasn't completely done either. It wasn't as crisp and clear as a finished product would be. You could definitely tell it was a work print.
I talked to the security guard, and he said McQueen is editing and fixing up the film constantly... and was even editing at the theater to like the minute before showing it to us.
If it was a temp. score, it still could be finished in time for Cannes.
I have a feeling though he might hold it for Venice like he did for Shame though. But I hope not!
It amuses me, and I don't think cynical criticsim of McQueen's style is uncalled for in a thread about McQueen's new film. The fact that almost everybody loves McQueen in here and are salivating at this project shouldn't be grounds for trying to banish a dissenting voice, no matter how tongue-in-cheek it is. What, exactly, is uncalled for in Bay's post, and what is different from a similar sarcasm directed at, say Slumdog Millonaire or The Impossible (and don't tell me they weren't made).
Apparently Hans Zimmer is scoring this.
This is really strange for a Steve Mcqueen film.![]()
Just for the confirmation....
Hans Zimmer Will Score Steve McQueen’s ‘Twelve Years a Slave!

So I did listen to a temporary score. Thank god!
APPARENTLY the first trailer for Twelve Years a Slave will be released June 21st & will also be attached to World War Z in theaters.

Well both movies are produced by Pitt's Plan B but still...
