Why is there no thread for Mumford and Sons? Does AD hate this band or something?

Stunningly beautiful re-interpretation of Vivaldi's classic by Richter. This gives the versions I've heard before a more somber and melancholic tone and it becomes the more precious and moving for it. Alongside Fiona Apple, this is probably my favorite album of the year. A must-listen.

I try to listen to it at least once a month. I usually end with some tears in my eyes.

I'm listening to Mariah Carey's second Christmas album, Merry Christmas II You.

Its really nice because my friend is decorating his apartment with Christmas stuff while we have this CD on. I finally feel like we're getting into the holiday spirit!

I'm only ten years late, but I've finally discovered this fantastic album. Had only heard The Way We Get By before; but man Stay Don't Go is terrific.

I've been meaning to listen to this for a long time now (since I know cd loved it, plus I loved Ladies and Gentlemen...), and I'm only halfway through it (it's a long ass, epic album), but I'm thoroughly loving it so far. "Hey Jane" and "Get What You Deserve" are brilliant.

ETA: Ok, scratch that. I've listened to the whole thing and it's just fucking gorgeous. After just one full listen I'm comfortable putting this as my #2 of 2012 after Channel Orange (and I need to go edit my Best Albums list. ).

I hadn't listened to this probably in years so I revisited in an attempt to make a Top 50 album list and yeah, it really is a masterpiece. Just a magnificent work of art. I think it's renewed my interest in all of Sufjan's () back catalogue.

Also, I'm really, really digging the new "My Bloody Valentine". As individual songs, it's not the most accessible, but as a whole it's fantastic.

YES, bry, m b v is fucking sublime.

So I have been doing some catchup with 2012 releases, and these have been the recent standouts for me:

    Soap&Skin - Narrow

Asaf Avidan - Avidan in a Box

Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra - Theatre is Evil

    The Soft Moon - Zeros

Max Richter – Vivaldi, The Four Seasons Recomposed
